Twin sisters Jennifer and Deborah Wyatt founded Thinking in Pictures Educational Services (TIPES) in Ottawa in 2007. Inspired by the advocacy work of their grandfather, John Alexander Wyatt, the twins conceptualized TIPES as a means of supporting the community and creating opportunities for those living with autism and other learning needs. Since its inception, TIPES has grown from a staff of two to a staff of over 50 professionals committed to creating and implementing individualized programming for its learners. TIPES has now serviced over 1000 learners from preschool age to adulthood and has expanded to service Ottawa and the surrounding area.
