Happy move with us May! Let’s move today with Lindsey! Today, we’re going to work on a clinic favourite: stretching and strengthening our triceps. Our triceps are located on the back side of our upper arms and assist with many everyday activities, like pushing ourselves up from a chair.
Let’s start by stretching our triceps. We recommend holding a towel or resistance band in one hand and grabbing the bottom half with our other hand, behind our back. Gently pull the towel down your back to stretch the tricep on the opposite arm. Hold for 30-45 seconds and repeat on the other arm daily.
Next, let’s strengthen our triceps! With both hands above your head, with or without a lightweight, slowly lower your hands behind your head and then lift them back up towards the sky. It’s important to move slowly and gently during this activity to avoid putting pressure on your elbows or flaring them out to the sides. This should be a pain-free movement. Repeat 10 reps daily.
