Don’t wait for a rupture in your relationship to begin counselling together. Learning how to communicate now can make repairing those inevitable ruptures easier and more compassionate 🧡

When communication breaks down, it can feel exhausting.

You have the same argument.
The same distance.
The same misunderstandings.

Relationship therapy can help to slow that down.

It creates space to understand what’s happening and try something different.

Support is available — whether things feel strained or you simply want to strengthen what you have.

Relationship counselling is available with Lauren, Jennifer, Veronica, &/or Dianne. Read more about each of them on our website.

Counselling for Children, Youth & Teens

Growing up today is not simple.

Children and teens carry more than we often see — school pressure, social stress, anxiety, big emotions, and changes at home.

Sometimes it shows up as worry.
Sometimes as withdrawal.
Sometimes as behaviour that feels hard to understand.

Jessie, Kelli, and Krista provide counselling for children, youth, and teens who need a neutral space to talk, process, and build skills to navigate what they’re facing.

Support may focus on:

• anxiety
• emotional regulation
• behaviour changes
• school stress
• family transitions

During different seasons of life, young people, at times, need someone outside the family to speak to — someone unbiased, consistent, and trained to listen.

We offer that space.

We’ve been intentionally adding practitioners to the Aruma team, and I’m humbled to have had Jessie Titterton join us at our Carleton Place location. Have a read through her bio, she just might be the right fit for you!

Please help us in welcoming our newest team member 🥳🧡

Jessie (RN, Psychotherapist) brings an integrative and compassionate approach to therapy, shaped by her background in nursing and mental health care. With a strong understanding of the nervous system, stress physiology, physical health, and psychotropic medications, she supports clients through both the emotional and biological aspects of healing.

She has extensive experience working with individuals living with serious and persistent mental health challenges — including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and concurrent disorders — as well as the families who support them.

Having navigated her own experiences with burnout and compassion fatigue, Jessie holds a special interest in supporting caregivers and professionals seeking reconnection and sustainable wellbeing.

Jessie also worked for four years as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, developing deep insight into the needs of survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault. She is committed to creating a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and 2SLGBTQI+ inclusive space where clients feel respected, supported, and secure.

Be sure to visit our website to read Jessie’s full bio.

The world is so loud right now…

There is a lot of violence, unrest, and de-humanization moving through the world right now.

Living alongside this level of information isn’t neutral — it impacts the nervous system, attention, sleep, and our capacity to stay connected.

When stress cycles don’t get a chance to complete, the load accumulates. Over time, that wear shows up in how we work, rest, concentrate, relate, and show up.

This isn’t about disengaging or turning away.

It’s about recognizing that human systems weren’t designed to absorb this much threat, this often, without support.

At Aruma, we understand this as mental health.

How we take things in matters. How they live in the body matters. And having support to process them matters.

This is a moment that calls for care — compassion, co-regulation, and connection.

Suuppppeerrrr heavy time of year. Reach out 🧡

It can feel like January 36th out there…

The days have been long, the light has been scarce, and many people are carrying more than they expected.

We’ve just come through the darkest stretch of the year — nearly ten weeks with very little sunlight — and that can take a real toll on mood, energy, and motivation.

If things feel heavier right now, that makes sense.

Nothing is “wrong” with you for finding this time of year hard.

Support doesn’t have to mean a crisis. Sometimes it’s simply having space to talk, sort through what’s been building, and feel a little less alone in it.

If January is weighing on you, our team is here to help you carry it — steadily, and at your pace.
