The Community Care Peterborough teams are so grateful for all of your support in this year's Kilometers for Care fundraiser! 😁

We danced, laughed, walked, and raised money to support programs that reach thousands of seniors in our area. 🙌

Team Peterborough has reached $1,338 and Team Exercise and Fall Prevention is so close to their $3,500 goal with $3,125 raised at last count.

Do you love working outside? Help us spread the word and prepare for the upcoming snowy season! ❄️

We're currently in need of several Brokered Home Maintenance Helpers in the City of Peterborough to assist clients with snow clearing of driveways and walkways this winter. Our clients pay you directly either on a fee-based per hour or by the job. You manage your own schedule and can provide services on both a one-off or regular basis to clients. A snowblower is an asset, but not a requirement.

National Seniors Day - October 1

This year is the 15th National Seniors Day, as well as the 60th anniversary of the Canada Pension Plan. This is a day for celebrating the elders in our communities, the contributions they’ve made throughout their lives, and how much more they have to offer. It is an ideal day to reach out to your older friends and family, and connect with them to reminisce about how things have changed over the years and catch up on how things are going.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - September 30

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which was established in 2013 to remember and honour the victims of the residential schools in Canada. Children were taken from Indigenous families and forced to attend school away from their families and cultures in an attempt at forced assimilation.

This day is also known as Orange Shirt Day as many people wear orange on this day in remembrance of the story of Phyllis Jack Webstad whose personal clothing, including her orange shirt, was stolen from her by the administration of the residential schools and never returned. Today is when we say that every child matters, that they have a right to their culture and history and are valued no matter their race or ethnicity.
