Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough Announces
Laura Geffert, MSW, RSW brings clinical expertise and deep community roots to lead DSP through a period of renewal
PETERBOROUGH, ON β The Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough (DSP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Geffert, MSW, RSW as Interim Executive Director, effective June 22, 2026. Laura brings a background in clinical social work, community leadership, and a longstanding commitment to the Peterborough region.
Laura currently serves as Clinical Team Lead at CCRC and is also a sessional instructor in the Department of Social Work at Trent University. Beyond her professional experience, Laura brings a deeply personal connection to the DSP's mission as the mother of Molly, age 16 and Simon, age 13, who has Down syndrome. Her professional expertise, combined with her lived experience, provides a foundation to lead the organization through its next chapter.

The DSP is entering a period of transition and renewal following a change in leadership. Laura's appointment reflects the organization's commitment to ensuring continuity of support for its members and families while building toward a strong and stable future.
