Some plants demand your attention.
This one stops you in your tracks!
Forces you to slow down and take another look... 👀
One moment, it's nowhere to be found. The next, these pale, ghostly stems emerge from the forest floor... as if the earth itself has decided to tell you a secret.
Despite its delicate appearance, Ghost Pipe is anything but fragile. 👻
Without chlorophyll, it doesn't harvest energy from the sun like other plants. Instead, it lives in quiet partnership with the underground fungal networks woven through the roots of towering trees—a reminder that some of nature's greatest strength comes through connection.
For generations, Ghost Pipe has been revered as a powerful plant ally. Traditionally, it has been used to support nerve pain, migraines, emotional overwhelm, and moments when the nervous system simply needs a little help finding its footing again.
Its medicine is known not for quantity, but for potency.
When prepared as a tincture, only a few drops have traditionally been used. It's a beautiful reminder that sometimes the smallest things carry the greatest power.
This year, I'll be preparing a small tincture in hopes to support my husband's nerve pain. As always harvesting with gratitude, intention, and above all restraint.
Taking only what the forest can generously offer, and leaving far more than I gather.
Because the greatest medicine isn't just found in the plant itself. 👻🌿
It's found in the relationship.
In learning the seasons.
In asking instead of just taking.
In trusting that abundance doesn't come from harvesting more—it comes from knowing the balance.
Every time I find Ghost Pipe, I'm reminded that the forest is still full of mysteries.
And every once in a while...
If you're paying attention...
It lets you in on one. 🤍🌿
