Marshmellows straight from the Root!
I overcame my fear of "messing it up" to simply (and not so simply) try.
This is my first time making healthy, homemade marshmellows but the benefits are undeniable!
🌿 Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow Root)
Was once the star ingredient in our beloved seasonal drinks favourite topping. Before modern science and the need for convenience has made this once healing treat into a science experiment without benefit to our bodies.
🤍 Marshmellow Root 🤍
1. Soothes the throat 🤒
Marshmallow root is rich in mucilage — a gel-like substance that coats and calms irritated tissues. That scratchy throat, dry cough, winter air fatigue? It’s holds and protects your throat from winters wear and tear.
2. Supports digestion 🔥
That same mucilage gently lines the digestive tract, helping with irritation, reflux, and general gut inflammation. Gentle Protection that Restores
3. Anti-inflammatory properties ❄️
Traditionally used to calm irritated tissues internally and externally. It’s one of those plants that works by soothing, not forcing.
4. Moisture from the inside out 🌊
In herbalism, it’s considered a demulcent — meaning it helps hydrate dry tissues. Helpful in dry climates, cold seasons, or when your system just feels depleted.
In a world where perfection is idealized, dont be afraid to do your best, and see what happens!
You'll likely be surprised with its outcome ✨️
