Chronic stress doesn’t just exhaust you. It contracts you

It can feel like your entire system is hiding, curled inward, bracing, waiting for the next hard thing to be over

I see it all the time, people who’ve spent years pushing through life while their body quietly carries the weight

And healing?

Healing is helping your body feel safe enough to open up and expand again

For years, I thought stress was only caused by being busy and that kind of felt out of my control as a working momI conc...

For years, I thought stress was only caused by being busy and that kind of felt out of my control as a working mom

I concluded I have
Too many responsibilities
Too many deadlines
Too many people needing me
To have relief

But in time I realized a huge part of my stress load was coming from what I was avoiding

Avoiding hard conversations
Avoiding disappointment
Avoiding grief
Avoiding rest
Avoiding emotions I didn’t know how to process

I thought I was protecting myself by pushing through, being strong

But my body was still holding onto everything I wasn’t allowing myself to feel

And that often showed up as:
exhaustion
irritability
anxiety
tension
disconnection

Healing wasn’t forcing myself to process everything at once

It was learning how to create safe moments to feel, process, and release

Bringing me into a stronger connection with my body

Sometimes reducing stress isn’t about doing less.
It’s about carrying less internally. 💛

I used to blame stress on my schedule

Too much to do
Too many responsibilities
Too many people needing me

And while that was part of it… it wasn’t the full picture

What was really keeping my nervous system overloaded was everything I was avoiding 🙃

Avoiding hard conversations
Avoiding disappointing people
Avoiding my own emotions
Avoiding the signals my body was sending me to slow down

I thought “keeping the peace” was protecting me
But it was creating more internal stress

Because what we don’t feel doesn’t disappear
What we don’t face doesn’t magically resolve itself

Our bodies often carry the weight of what we suppress

For me, healing looked like creating small, safe moments to feel what I had been pushing down... without overwhelming my nervous system

And that has had one of the biggest impacts on reducing my stress load
