Never thought that the years can go by so quickly and see her grow up.

Severe Postpartum Depression was the icing on my cake of dark mental health crisis reality.

My core family had to advocate for me. Having a strong partner, the unconditional support of my late father and hospital programs were the corner stones of healing.

I am grateful to have survived that life hurricane.

Seeing her bloom into a beautiful human is worth the fight.

Many people think I’m all good now. Every moment is a choice to live through each attack and muster managing the ones I can.

She is 1 of my 5 reasons to continue seeking help and keep refining the therapy skills.

Small steps in building a routine.

Being outside is still one of the biggest struggle I face as a mental health thriver.

Maneuvering the anxiety and depressive symptoms lull is a reality I face as a mental health thriver.

It takes a lot of preparation for me to go out. Even basic school drop off/pick up or grocery runs require a lot of energy to do.

Celebrating the small wins to be seen outside is a major healing power move.

Honour your own healing journey 🙏🏽❤️
Find the smile in between the most difficult moments.
Learning to get through years of repressed pain, suffering and emotions in the body requires care and patience.

“Real luxury is how unavailable you are to chaos.” - Afnan Khalifa

This was the theme of my soul in deep wintering 🤍 It humbly brought me back to my mat and gave a profound fresh perspective for deep rest.

This season was the catalyst which required me to mange perimenopause and post abdominal surgery symptoms. Most of all, it allowed me to befriend compounded grief and loss.

These lived-in and embodied practices are what I share this May.

As Christmas draws very near, here is an invitation to reframe the importance of “presence” over presents.
Loneliness is quite prevalent during the holidays. Even with people around us there is that pang of unseen loneliness.
Gift time and full body listening and being.
The holidays for me is especially hard because of grief that is still being healed i lost my best friend, P and I wasn’t able to say goodbye. It’s also hard because I miss my dad so much. He was my person.
Even with family surrounding me, there is a longing I cannot shake.
An antidote I have found helpful is being present for my S E L F. I play music that reminds me of the many beautiful memories. I take a stroll around my neighborhood and in my minds eye I see P and my dad walking with me in silence. I close the evening off lighting a candle and a silent prayer for both of them ❤️. In many ways, it fills my heart with their love.
I then am able to be with others in my family and be fully present for them.
If this is a year where grief is so overwhelming and you have no one to turn to, please send me a direct message and will dedicate a meditation just for you. I will hold sacred space for Y O U ❤️
May your time be season be full of love and compassion.

P 🤍🖤🤍 Always missed and forever loved.

For those going through motions of grief and loss, know I walk this path with you.

There is no timeline. It’s okay to be emotional. It’s okay to feel all that you feel. There is no fix nor fill for that empty heart space.

Honour the ones you miss. Remember all the good, beautiful and amazing moments. Celebrate those times whenever there is a pull of grief.

My late dad knew P and all that we went through in our early adult life.

Papa was the one who picked me off the floor, hugged me silently and dried my tears after Chris told me that he was gone. I was not able to say goodbye.

Dad would soon follow that path to heaven shortly after P.

Papa reminded me in his last days that “We are just a prayer away, anak.”

So yes, give in to feel all that stuff in your heart.

Super late post… this was me two weeks ago and to date days when I am battling pain. Sadly, I am waiting for scheduled procedures 😳.
This practice actually took me years to learn. When one is struggling with severe depression basic self care is the hardest to do. It feels like re-learning to live again.
I used to clock 80-hour days in my previous career. Add the fact that I am a mom with kids.
One key aspect i learned about self care during my days in therapy is skill building - doing simple tasks even i didn’t feel like it.
So the act of slowing down and making tea, curled up with a book took when I’m sick took me long time to figure out.
I finally accepted that pushing thru or powering up even when sick is goes against “Ahimsa”, non harming… it’s not just about non-harm to others. It also means non-harm to self.
Living yoga off the mat enfolds mindful living.
Simplicity is a key aspect of self care. It supports a sense of thriving instead of surviving during difficult and uncertain moments while managing and deep discomfort.
Nourishing body mind and spirit with this shared simple practice is a balm for the soul.
