LET’S TALK REFLEXOLOGY: CLINICAL VS. ENERGETIC
There’s more than one way to look at what happens during a reflexology session.
And honestly? I love exploring both sides.
THE CLINICAL SIDE
This is where we look at anatomy, physiology, sensory nerve stimulation and the nervous system.
Touch and pressure stimulate sensory receptors in the feet, and reflexology supports relaxation, inflammation, and circulation as well as the relationship between stress, sleep and tension.
We look at how the body responds, how it feels, and the role that the nervous system plays in our overall health.
THE ENERGETIC SIDE
This is where things get a little more woo-woo.
Reflexology has traditional maps that connect specific areas of the feet with different parts and systems of the body.
From an energetic perspective, we can explore grounding, body awareness, intention and the subtle sensations that come up during a treatment.
It’s about tuning in, noticing what you feel, and making space for the experience beyond what we can physically measure.
SO, WHICH ONE IS RIGHT?
For me, they don’t have to compete.
I can appreciate the anatomy and physiology of the body while also respecting the energetic side of holistic healing.
One gives us a framework for understanding the body. The other offers a different way to experience and interpret our connection to it.
You can be grounded in science and still be curious about energy. You don’t have to abandon one to explore the other.
That’s the beauty of holistic wellness. And I love incorporating both into my reflexology practice 🤍
