Have you heard of knit bone? š§
Thatās the old name for comfrey⦠and once you know what this plant can do, youāll understand why people have been growing it for centuries.
Weāve been planting it around the fruit trees here on the farm. Comfrey has incredibly deep roots that pull up minerals from way down in the soil - nutrients your trees canāt reach on their own. Cut the leaves back and they break down right on the surface, feeding the soil, nourishing the tree. Free, renewable fertilizer that just keeps coming back.
But the part that really fascinates me is the healing history.
Knit bone. People have used comfrey topically for centuries⦠on bruises, swollen joints, sore muscles. It contains allantoin, a compound known to support cell repair and calm inflammation right at the skinās surface.
A plant that feeds your trees and supports your body.
And my rabbits? They think itās pretty great too.
One plant. So many gifts. šæ
Save this - comfrey is one youāll want to come back to.
