This is my 4th season as a volunteer with the doing Turtle Patrol 🐢

Here’s why it’s important & what we do to 👇🏻

Turtle patrol is critical in Ontario because all 8 of the province’s native freshwater turtle species are classified as Species at Risk.

The work is incredibly important for several key reasons:

•Combating Road Mortality: Southern Ontario has both the highest density of turtles and the highest density of roads in Canada. Females face extreme peril when crossing busy highways in search of nesting sites. Turtle patrols actively monitor these hotspots, guiding turtles to safety and preventing devastating blows to adult populations.

•Protecting Nests: Natural turtle nests are highly vulnerable to predators like raccoons and skunks. Patrol volunteers shield nesting sites with protective covers, excavate nests to incubate threatened eggs at facilities, and then release hatchlings back into the wild to boost survival rates. (And, yes, they are even at-risk to poachers in the area looking to sell them 😔)

•Maintaining Ecosystem Health: Turtles are keystone and indicator species. They act as the “cleaning crews” of our lakes by consuming decaying fish and keeping bacteria levels low. They are also crucial seed dispersers, promoting healthy plant growth that stabilizes riverbanks and prevents erosion.

•Preserving Slow-Recovering Populations: Turtles take between 8 to 25 years to reach reproductive age and do not produce large quantities of offspring each year. Losing even a single breeding female to a vehicle or boat strike can set a local population back decades‼️

We need turtles, so turtles need us to protect them. If you see a turtle crossing the road, please safely stop & safely ensure it gets across the road in the direction it was going 🐢🤍

Last week, I had a bad fall.

It scared me, I won’t lie.

I injured both my feet, plus had a hard hit to my head.

Thankfully I took the time for rest, ice & elevate.

But to ensure a deeper healing at the cellular level, I visited with LifeForce Light Therapy and had her use her medical-grade RLT system on both my head & feet to help the tissues heal faster 🙏

Why medical-grade RLT vs standard RLT beds?

➡️ Medical-Grade Systems: deliver more light energy durectly to the target tissues in a shorter period of time, allowing light to pe*****te deeper into muscles and joints for cellular repair.

➡️ Standard Red Light Therapy Beds: emit lower power densities. They are great for surface-level skin rejuvenation and relaxation but lack the intensity needed to impact deeper tissue & cellular repair.

Maybe it’s👇🏻
•get up & down off the ground to play with grandkids;
•still carry your own groceries; or even
•play a sport like pickleball

Once that’s determined, my role is to ensure your custom program incorporates movement patterns that align with your goals 💪🏻

What equipment do you need to get started with fitness?

None…yet.

First, build consistency.

Prove to yourself that you will stick to this before spending any money.

Then when consistency is built, buy equipment IF you want to 💪🏻

She’s swapped what a “reward” looks like for her…and it’s benefiting her mind, body & spirit 💫

In addition, for this particular client, I am also seeing her positive changes ripple into her own business too 🙌🏻

I am so tired of seeing all over social media things like “just lift” or “stop all the cardio”

Truthfully, at first I kinda thought it was because said influencers weren’t good themselves at cardio & never did it to FEEL & KNOW the benefits themselves.

Here’s a few facts I’ll admit 👇🏻

Fact #1: yes, strength training does help with cardiovascular health - but not at the same level as aerobic exercise does.

Fact #2: Strength training can & will get you more defined, so the body composition part is valid.

But here’s what I dislike👇🏻

How it’s used to prey on women’s insecurities about parts of their body they feel bad about.

Instead of being about actual health…these influencers prey on insecurities & make health strictly about body image by prioritizing strength training imo

Because if it was about actual health that’d be saying how important cardivascular health is too based on actual all cause mortality.

Cardio directly strengthens the heart muscle, while strength training improves vascular function. Combining both provides the greatest protection against cardiovascular disease.

That’s my rant for today.

Please walk, hike, bike, run too ✌🏻🕊️🤍
