I had the privilege of working with him for more than twenty years, and it truly has been an honor.
Régis is someone you can always count on. He is serious, skilled, and highly professional in everything he does. I always trusted him completely, both with patients and with colleagues. With all his experience, he has been an invaluable resource to the team over the years.
What particularly sets Régis apart is his remarkable organizational ability. During the pandemic, when we had to set up the red zone, the situation was complex and sometimes chaotic. Fortunately, he was there. That is truly one of his greatest strengths: bringing structure to situations, creating order out of chaos, and developing effective systems that allow everyone to work under the best possible conditions.
I also have many memorable experiences with him over the years. I especially remember one shift when we had to carry out two, and then ultimately three, patient transfers almost simultaneously. It was an epic shift during which we worked incredibly hard, but as always, Régis remained calm, efficient, and dependable from beginning to end.
I could spend hours telling stories about all the unusual situations we experienced together, but confidentiality requires that many of those stories remain between us!
There are also the lighter memories. One of my favorites goes back to an annual nursing training event that had unfortunately been canceled. Régis and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity and go see a Marco Calliari concert in Val-d’Or. When we arrived, we found the venue completely empty and wondered what was going on. After a few minutes of confusion, we realized that the concert had taken place the day before! It is the kind of moment that kept us laughing for a long time.
I also remember another well-known side of Régis: the look he gives when someone tries to pull his leg. When you tell him something a little far-fetched, tease him, or try to convince him of a completely ridiculous idea, he gives you his famous look over his glasses and asks, “Are you kidding me, or are you serious?” Every time, it makes me laugh. In fact, more than once I deliberately told him nonsense just to hear that line. And he almost always reacted the same way!
But beyond his expertise, Régis is also someone with great wisdom. The challenges he has faced, particularly losing his mother at a young age, have given him a deep perspective on life. He has the ability to take things as they come and maintain a calm and balanced outlook, even during difficult times.
And then there is another thing about Régis: he is simply a pleasure to work with. He has a great sense of humor, is loyal, genuine, and always honest. He knows how to communicate respectfully and find the right words, no matter the situation.
His departure will certainly leave a void at the clinic, but it is also a well-deserved milestone. After all these years of commitment and dedication, it is time for him to fully enjoy his retirement. I am convinced that he will leave a lasting positive impression on everyone who has had the chance to know him.
Happy retirement, Régis, and thank you for everything.
We love you, and you will always be welcome at Ouje CMC... even in the new clinic, if it ever ends up getting built one day! Haha!
Enjoy this new chapter of your life to the fullest. You have more than earned it.
