Stolen Sovereignty x Geanna Rae x Globe Theatre

Geanna Rae, a Cree-Métis interdisciplinary artist, weaves sculpture, story, and memory through land-based practice.

In Stolen Sovereignty, her “rogue taxidermy” dioramas are shaped from materials gathered in relationship—through ceremony, travel, trade, and kinship. Bones, skins, and earth become more than form; they carry presence. They remember.

Bones here are not remnants, but witnesses—holding stories of life across the land, beyond what can be written or erased. They speak to belonging, to resistance, to the quiet insistence of Indigenous sovereignty.

Each miniature world becomes a living landscape—intimate, layered, and contested—where memory and displacement meet continuity.

Through careful hands and reciprocal exchange, Geanna invites us to witness: the land is not still. It lives, it holds, it testifies

Hey Everyone.

My books are closed until mid April - This includes piercings and all tattooing.

I am currently one of 2 artists in residence for .art.gallery 2026 and installation starts this month!

✨ The MacKenzie Art Gallery is pleased to welcome Amber Phelps Bondaroff and Geanna Dunbar as our Artists in Residence for 2026.

From February 23 to March 8, 2026, Amber and Geanna will be on-site installing AuthentiCity, a new artist installation in the Learning Centre that reimagines the gallery as a familiar public space—like a street corner, park, or bus stop—where connection, accessibility, and mutual care come together.

“Authenticity centres on community care, accessibility, and collective imagining, while helping transform the gallery into a space that reflects shared civic life.”

Visit the Learning Centre at the MacKenzie on February 26 & 27 and March 5 & 6, from 1–3 PM to meet the artists and watch the installation take shape.

The completed installation will be open from March 9, 2026, to February 7, 2027. Visitors are invited to share their ideas about creating healthy community spaces through an ongoing, self-directed program of creativity and discovery
