I’m so honoured to be selected as a 2026 WESK Entrepreneur of the Year Honouree in the Community Catalysts category! 🥹💜
At Tangles, we are more than just hairstylists… we are caretakers of culture, community builders, and storytellers through hair. Giving back has always been at the heart of what we do, from supporting our communities and youth to sharing the sacredness of our hair and offering Journey Braids.
What makes this even more meaningful is having a team that shares those same values. ❤️
So grateful to be recognized for something so close to my heart. ✨
2026 WESK Entrepreneurs of the Year Community Catalyst honourees:
Namrata Sharma + Brianna Dodd & Destinee Peter
The Community Catalyst category recognizes entrepreneurs who make meaningful contributions to community wellbeing through service, advocacy, and community-centered business practices.
Namrata Sharma + Brianna Dodd (Lavender Smiles ) – Lavender Smiles 🌈
Namrata and Brianna have built Saskatoon's only daycare dedicated exclusively to children with complex behavioral disabilities. Their entire daycare space is completely inclusive, neuro-affirming, and sensory-friendly. Neither owner takes income from the daycare, revenue is reinvested directly back into the business to sustain operations and make support more accessible for families.
"At Lavender Smiles, community has always been at the center of everything we do. Over the past five years, we built our foundation as an inclusive childcare program, supporting children and families with diverse needs while creating a safe and welcoming space for growth, learning, and connection."
Destinee Peter (Tangles Hair & Beauty Salon ) Tangles Hair & Beauty Salon ✂️
As a proud member of Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, Destinee has built a business that blends professional beauty services with Indigenous values, culture, and community. She speaks to youth about entrepreneurship, teaches the sacredness of hair in schools and communities, and offers Journey Braids for loved ones who have passed. Her team regularly participates in wellness days and community initiatives supporting addiction awareness, mental health, grief, and healing.
"Giving back is not only important to me. It is a value shared by my entire team. Together, we intentionally choose to participate in wellness days and community initiatives that have a meaningful connection to us."
