JOSEE!
💚How long have you worked at Oxygen North?
I’ve been part of the Oxygen North family since just six months after it first opened its doors. I’ve had the privilege of teaching here ever since, and it has been such a beautiful part of my journey as an instructor. Watching this community grow and being able to share space with so many wonderful people has been a gift.
💚What is your favourite class to teach?
Power Yoga with Yang Yin has my heart. I love the balance between strength and stillness, challenge and surrender. There’s something really special about moving with intention, building heat and strength, and then allowing ourselves the space to slow down, soften and simply be.
💚What would you tell a first-time client before going to class?
Come exactly as you are.
This is a space without judgment and without expectations. You don’t have to be flexible, strong, experienced or have any idea what you’re doing. Give yourself grace.
Try to approach your practice from a place of compassion and kindness rather than comparison. We all have our own bodies, our own stories and our own journeys—and your practice will look different from someone else’s, and that’s exactly how it should be.
Take a rest when you need one. Modify when you need to. Listen to yourself. There is no perfect pose and no perfect practice.
And for me, it is a privilege to share a practice with you and to be a small witness to a piece of your journey. Thank you for allowing me into that space.
💚What is your current obsession?
Honestly, I think I’m currently obsessed with discovering the many facets of me. I’ve been putting more focus into my own workouts and reminding myself that consistency matters—not just in the things we do for others, but in showing up for ourselves, too.
And then there’s Bear. 🐾 He has a pretty important role in keeping me present and grounded. He reminds me to slow down, be where my feet are and enjoy the little moments. He also happens to give the best kisses and cuddles, so I’m pretty sure I’m winning.
