Rachelle is now offering more hours at Open Skies seeing children and youth!
Having worked extensively with teens, Rachelle understands that adolescence can be beautifully complex. When emotional distress takes hold, it can ripple into many areas of a young person’s life - impacting relationships, identity, school, family, and overall well-being.
When young people are navigating significant emotional distress, Rachelle draws on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skill building. She also integrates principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help young people develop psychological flexibility, clarify what matters to them, and take meaningful steps toward a life more aligned with their values.
This integrated approach can help young people:
Understand and manage intense emotions;
Navigate challenging relationships, and strengthen interpersonal skills;
Build skills for tolerating difficult emotions and situations;
Respond to distress in ways that are more effective, and align with their goals;
Develop greater psychological flexibility;
Identify what matters most, and clarify their personal values;
Take meaningful steps toward the people, relationships, and life they want to build.
The overall focus is on assisting youth to develop practical skills, increased insight, and greater flexibility in how they respond to life’s challenges, while building skills for emotional regulation, coping, and values-guided action.
