🌎 Today is World Food Day.

Food connects us to our families, our cultures and our communities. But access to food isn't something everyone can take for granted.

According to Statistics Canada’s Canadian Income Survey, 26.7% of people in Saskatchewan lived in households experiencing food insecurity in 2024 — more than one in four people in our province.

At REACH, we're working to make nutritious, affordable food more accessible through programs like the Good Food Box, Frozen Meals, Family Baskets and food education. This World Food Day, you can help support that work. Your donation helps REACH continue providing food programs that meet the needs of people in our community.

A pretty good-looking $20, if you ask us. 👀

The Good Food Box is filled with fresh produce and offers savings of up to 50% compared with grocery store prices, all while supporting a local nonprofit right here in Regina. Order your next box and see what $20 can get you! 🥦🍎

🧡 Thank you to the Circle Project for bringing our community together yesterday for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Honour Walk.

It was meaningful to see so many people gather at Victoria Park to honour those impacted by residential schools, reflect on the work of reconciliation, and come together as a community. We were grateful to be there with the community BBQ and to share the day alongside so many wonderful people. Thank you to everyone who joined us. 🧡

🧡 A reminder for tomorrow: Our REACH office will be closed on September 30 in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

But you can find us at Victoria Park instead! We’ll be joining the Circle Project & friends for their National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Honour Walk and hosting a community BBQ throughout the event.

📍 Victoria Park
⏰ BBQ runs from 11 AM–1 PM

We’ll be taking time to honour those impacted by residential schools and come together as a community in the spirit of truth and reconciliation. We hope to see you there. 🧡

Fun Food Fact Friday 🍐

Pears are one of those fruits that really shine in the fall. Unlike many fruits, pears are generally picked before they're fully ripe and continue ripening after harvest. So it's normal for them to feel firm at first. Leave them on the counter for a few days and check near the stem, when the area gives slightly when gently pressed, they're ready to eat. Once they're ripe, pop them in the fridge to slow things down.

Have pears in your Good Food Box from this week? Try them sliced into oatmeal, added to a salad, or simply enjoy them on their own. 😊
