Brave Patient Seeking Donor, Delmar

Delmar is living with end-stage kidney disease caused by genetic polycystic kidney disease (PKD). He is a husband, father, and proud popa to seven grandchildren. After many years working as a Road Foreman – Lead Hand, he made the difficult decision to retire early when everyday tasks became exhausting and left him short of breath.

While Delmar may not appear ill to others, the reality of living with Stage 5 kidney disease is very different. As he says, "People say you don't look sick, but kidney disease can be deceiving." He is currently maintaining his kidney function through a strict diet and is working hard to avoid dialysis while searching for a living donor.

Delmar hopes a kidney transplant will allow him to enjoy the active retirement he always dreamed of and continue making memories with his family.

This week we were invited by the Jason Blaine Celebrity Charity Golf Classic Committee to share our story and the importance of Organ Donation with a packed house of musicians, committee members and friends.
In attendance from the Share Your Spare crew were Lucas, his parents Angela and Chris and his Kidney Donor, Debbie.
Thank you to the Committee, JASON BLAINE, and Marianne Minns for all of your support over the last couple of months and for allowing us an opportunity to talk about the importance of Organ & Tissue Donation.
Over the last 12 years, the Jason Blaine Charity Golf Classic has raised over 1 million dollars in funds to support numerous organizations in Pembroke and the Ottawa Valley.
This is just another example of how generous folks in the Ottawa Vally are and we can't thank you enough! 💚

World Transplant Day 💚♻️🌿
Thank you to Living and Deceased Donors and their families who gave the gift of life to others.
And to the fortunate Organ Recipients like Lucas, and those still waiting for the call for a Donor match, your resilience is admirable and we will continue to advocate for Organ Donation on your behalf.
Lastly, to the Medical Professionals that make transplant possible. Everyone from the Transplant Coordinator to the Surgeons play an important role in the journey and we thank you.
