This past Tuesday, our Home Instead Toronto Central and York offices were proud to sponsor and participate in the annual Alzheimer Society Golf2Remember Tournament!

The event brought together golfers, community members, and supporters for a memorable day of golf, connection, and fun, all while raising support for individuals and families impacted by dementia across Toronto and York Region. Funds raised help ensure people living with dementia and their care partners have access to vital programs, services, education, and support.

One of the highlights of the day was our Memory Wall, organized by our Director of Growth and Operations, Celeste! Participants were invited to take a team photo, share why dementia care matters to them, and add their message to our wall.

What started as a fun activity led to some incredibly meaningful conversations. We had the opportunity to share more about how Home Instead supports older adults living with dementia, while several golfers opened up about their own experiences with dementia and caring for family members. đź’š

Thank you to the Alzheimer Society for having us, and to everyone who came together to make this such a meaningful and memorable event. We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues to come together in support of those affected by dementia.

There’s more to the Iowa State Fair than corn dogs and butter sculptures—it is also a place for meaningful conversations. 🎡🌭

Dr. Lakelyn spent the day at the Home Instead booth talking with fairgoers about aging, caregiving and the many ways families can find support.

One conversation that will stay with her was with Marv, who cared for his late wife, Sharon. He shared how meaningful Home Instead’s support was for them—a powerful reminder that care can make a real difference for both the person receiving it and the family member beside them.

She also stopped by the Iowa Department of Transportation booth to talk about one of the harder caregiving conversations: driving. Starting early, leading with empathy and focusing on safety can help make the conversation feel less like taking something away and more like supporting independence.
