It’s not “just” play.
As pediatric OTs, we look at how children move, plan, and organize their bodies during activities like this—because these are the foundations for attention, behaviour, academic success, motor confidence, and socialization with peers.
When these movement foundations aren’t working well, children often work much harder just to keep up.
You may notice this via more meltdowns, a wiggly body that can’t stay still, or challenges keeping up with the rhythm and demands of the day at home or school.
The good news: these skills can be supported.
If you’ve noticed challenges with emotional regulation, focus during seated tasks, fine motor skills, or transitions throughout the day, Pediatric Occupational Therapy can help.
