if you missed this week's maskihkiy monday, don't worry! we have another exciting event coming up in july 🥰

knowledge carrier Wiisug Richard Wright will be sharing traditional teachings on the spirituality of gichi-aya'aag (the old ones) and what euro-western systems label as ""psychosis.""

this is a teaching that invites us to understand our relationships with spirit through an Indigenous lens, and to consider what gets lost when we only have one framework for making sense of our experiences.

these 1.5-hour sessions are pay-what-you-can, in offering to the knowledge carriers sharing their wisdom.

join us online on july 13, 2026 at 4:00pm pst/5:00pm mst/6:00pm cst/7:00pm est/8:00pm ast.

TW: trauma

have you ever felt disconnected from yourself after experiencing something traumatic? 🕊️

one way to understand this from an iyiniw (Indigenous) perspective, when we go through something traumatic, our spirit steps back... witnessing, but not fully experiencing.

it is a profound act of protection, and it allows the spirit to return whole when we call it back.

whatever you have been through, it does not define you. you can find your way back to yourself ❤️

june is National Indigenous History Month. 🪶

survivance is the active, ongoing presence of Indigenous peoples—our languages, ceremonies, knowledges, and ways of being—since time immemorial and in the face of over 500 years of systems designed to erase them.

the grandmother who kept her language when it was dangerous to speak it.
the ceremony that continued in the trees when it was made illegal.
the children being raised today with teachings that colonialism tried to bury.

this month, we honour and remember that powerful history of survivance ❤️

with everything happening in the world right now, it makes sense if you're feeling it. 🤍

grief, heaviness, and exhaustion are honest responses to difficult times.

in the middle of it all, we also need to take care of ourselves and our energy.

that means:
- checking in with yourself
- choosing where your energy goes
- resting when you're feeling empty

this is your reminder that you can sit beside what's heavy while also tending to your own light ✨
