Meet Sarah Chalmers tattoo artist working out of 49 North Tattoo in Rossland, BC.
Sarah began tattooing in 2019 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology and working on various conservation studies across North America—from spotted owls in Arizona and New Mexico, to songbirds in Northern BC, and northern goshawks on Vancouver Island.
Her work leans toward bold, large-scale designs in black and grey, and sometimes colour, with a focus on high contrast and strong flow with the body. She also enjoys taking on smaller pieces, as long as they align with her style and translate well at a smaller scale.
She draws most of her inspiration from the natural and supernatural world—animals, mythology, folklore, and the human form—creating pieces that feel brooding, intentional, moody, and often a touch creepy and macabre.
Sarah tattoos primarily in Rossland at 49 North Tattoo, and regularly travels for guest work in Squamish, BC and Calgary, AB.
When she’s not tattooing, you can find her outside—hiking, birding, hunting—or in the gym. Coffee is always black. 🌚
