In 2014, a football accident changed the way Marty moved.

CMT is an inherited neurological condition that affects the peripheral nerves. Over time, it can lead to muscle weakness, often in the legs and feet, which may result in foot drop.

Born in a garage, not a boardroom.

In 2001, François Côté, a mechanical designer from Québec, was left with permanent foot drop after a severe snowmobile accident. For an athlete, that wasn't an option he'd accept.

So he did what designer do: he designed his way out. Testing prototype after prototype himself, through half marathons and marathons. 28 versions later, the first Xtern was born.

In 2015, he teamed up with Stéphane Savard, a 30-year veteran of the orthotics industry, and Turbomed Orthotics launched.

Today, the Xtern helps people move confidently in 35+ countries. Our story is about a man who refused to let foot drop define his life. 💙
