SALON SUNDAY – JUNE 28TH – A FANTASTIC DAY!

We just wanted to give you a little glimpse into our last Salon Sunday June 28th, so that you can mark in your calendar the date of the next one – Sunday July 26th, 2026.

It was just one of those magical days, the sun came out, but there was still a breeze, people were meandering, smiling, grinning, wondering where on Earth they had just landed…..
We began the day with the hearty and lion-hearted voices of Viva Chorale which set the stage for continued theatrics throughout the day….. thank you Viva Chorale!

So many new faces, and so many new friends. So much laughter and relaxation. Kids everywhere! Parents chilling while their children made collage art, whilst making new friends.

And there was the Sound of Music, of the raucous, infectious Suz EQ Band and the melodic, mystical musings of Malakai rising up the hill, carried on the breeze and into the trees. I especially like the Conga Line! Thank you, Suze and the Band and Malakai!

And then there was the deeply nourishing and soul-deepening sound-healing journey in the yurt. How wonderful to see our Yurt filled to the brim with folks of all-ages soaking it all up!

What really touched my heart was meeting and witnessing all the people and families who were having such a great time! It is the raison d’etre of Salon Sundays. Like Nikki and her daughter who have been to all of the Salons. The traveller who could not believe that a gathering like this was still happening in the world and got their face painted and ate everything on the Menu at Mama G’s Eatery. The young dad watching his 2-year-old daughter grooving to the sounds of DJ Skywater. The ladies sitting in the lounge chairs gabbing and crocheting while they waited for their turn for a Tarot Reading. Even our goat Jasper wanted one! Thank you Kevin and Senica.

And let’s not forget the infamous, awesome and almost always can’t get through the sign-up sheet, Open Mic with Forest Tate. Forest has run the open mic for both seasons and has told me of musicians that he met here at the Salons last year who have become friends and have made albums – like Dave Des and like he has. He calls it the ripple-effect. Thank you to the Barefoot Ponies for gracing our Open-Mic stage once again and for Andy Doyle of Salt Spring Groove for the wonderful photos.

And then there was this. An entire family lounging on our walnut tree, my cheeks hurt just looking at these happy faces. Our dearest friends of Duck Creek Farm, whose fresh produce made the food at Mama G’s sooo gosh darn good!

This Sunday's Salon on June 28th at Stonewell Farm on Salt Spring Island has something for everybody!

The organic and local food and beverages, the local artists and musicians and poets, the dedicated Kid Zone, the GOATS, and then there is the beauty of the land and the farm.

�Salt Spring mixed-media artist Rosie Schinners will host a drop-in collage workshop in the Cobshack from 2–5 pm. Rosie holds degrees from both the University of Guelph and NSCAD University and was selected as Kolaj Magazine's World Collage Day Featured Artist in 2019.

Salon Sunday June 28, 2026 – Food/Farms/Vendors

One of the loveliest parts of Salon Sundays is the chance to gather, linger, savour, and sip — with a menu that celebrates the abundance of Salt Spring.
Mama G’s Eatery will be open from 1–7pm, offering a seasonal vegetarian small plate menu featuring local, organic, and reasonably priced dishes.

On the menu:
- Roasted Beet Salad with goat cheese, balsamic, apples, toasted walnuts, and arugula
- French Lentil Salad with organic French Puy lentils, radicchio, carrots, and fresh herbs in a balsamic shallot dressing, served on arugula
- Mixed Berry Summer Salad with strawberries, loganberries, raspberries, toasted pistachios, walnuts, goat cheese, and arugula
- Homemade hummus three ways, served with focaccia, or rice crackers, or assorted organic veggies
- Gluten-free plum crumble
- Gluten-free strawberry rhubarb crumble
- Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies
* Everything is gluten free except for the focaccia *

The Upper Bar will be open from 3–8pm, offering snacks, baked goods, popcorn, and a full bar featuring local cocktails, mocktails, kombucha, wine, beer, and Bubbly.

The Lower Bar at the Teahouse will be open from 1–7pm, offering all the same fare as the Upper Bar, with the addition of specialty coffees.

You can expect a delicious selection of local beverages, including Salt Spring Island Kombucha, Salt Spring Wild Cider, Vivezza wines, Salt Spring Brewery beer, and refreshing mocktails and cocktails with Salt Spring Shine Gin!

KID ZONE
We will also have a dedicated Kid Zone, so families can settle in and enjoy the afternoon with a little extra ease. Bring the whole crew. Listen to music whilst the kids meet new friends….

From the Heart

"The very first day I visited Salt Spring, in the summer of 1998, one thing stood out – the Farms, the Farm stands, and the fresh local organic produce available here. It is still one of my favorite things to do; driving around the island, visiting my fave farmstands, and finding new ones. We have a farmstand now too, although I am a newbie and still finding my way. It became a dream of mine to grow food and live off of our farm. To share our food with friends. My daughters laugh, but love how each meal, starting with the first of the harvest, or what’s left from the pantry, I relay where everything came from, which farms and when, and I get very excited when I can prepare a meal that is 100% local. And when the meal is entirely from our farm – I do backflips -okay truthfully only in my mind!

Salt Spring astounds me with its abundance, the many local businesses and farms offering up what this land can provide. And I am in love with all of the farmers and the producers. So, it is with this Ethos in mind, that we are offering almost entirely local and organic food and beverages at our Salon Sundays. I believe in this kind of creative expression as well. And it just feels so good to support each other in these endeavors. I know how hard farming is, and what it takes to create this kind of abundance.

So I am hoping that when you come to this Sunday’s Salon on June 28th, you will sashay up to the counter of Mama G’s Eatery or to one of our Bars to savour and sip the bounty of this incredible island, and hopefully to be reminded, if you don’t know already, the importance of supporting local……"

Salon Sundays returns to Stonewell Farm this month with an eclectic gathering of musicians, singers, artists, storytellers, facilitators and community creators from Salt Spring and beyond.

1:15–2:00 pm�• Papa T at the Well – The Wind in the Willows continues�• Viva Chorale presents Fern Fever at the Lower Stage, a joyful and wide-ranging choral performance inspired by the Victorian fern craze.
2:00–5:00 pm�• Drop-in Collage Art with Rosie Schinners in the Cobshack. Rosie is an internationally recognized mixed media artist and World Collage Day Featured Artist whose welcoming workshop invites everyone to explore creativity through paper and collage.
2:15–3:00 pm�• AnSah in the Yurt brings ceremonial sound healing and spirit-led music from Gabriola Island, blending rich vocals and a wide variety of instruments into an immersive and deeply restorative experience.

Fresh from their Fern Fever concert, Viva Chorale brings a lively and varied repertoire ranging from classical choral gems to folk music and playful favourites. Their performance explores the curious 19th-century phenomenon of "Pteridomania" — the fern craze that swept Britain and North America.

🎶 AnSah
Travelling from Gabriola Island, AnSah offers ceremonial sound healing music, spirit-led improvisation, rich harmonies and original songs that invite listeners into stillness, presence and heart connection.

"The open mic at Salon Sundays is for people to take a brave risk in a safe place. We welcome seasoned songsmiths trying out fresh material or poets who want to share their first poem. Sitting here at Stonewell Farm on Salt Spring Island, feeling such gratitude. Gratitude for this community. Gratitude for the community and connection that our Salon Sundays is creating!

Salon Sundays Return to Stonewell Farm – Sunday, June 28

Looking for one of those rare afternoons where you arrive intending to stay for an hour and somehow find yourself there until sunset?
Salon Sundays at Stonewell Farm are exactly that kind of place.
Held on the last Sunday of each month of Summer (June, July, August), these magical mini festivals bring together live music, storytelling, movement, poetry, art, conversation, incredible local food, and the simple pleasure of spending a summer afternoon surrounded by community.

Bring a blanket, bring the kids, bring your grandparents, or come on your own. Wander through the farm, meet the goats and friendly chickens, find a shady spot under the apple trees, explore the yurt and the many stages and performance spaces, enjoy a drink from the licensed bar, and settle in for a day that unfolds at its own relaxed pace.

Annie Delorme will be offering professional face and body painting (not included in admission), while second-generation tarot reader Seneca Maltese will be offering intuitive tarot readings to help visitors connect with their own inner wisdom (also separate from admission).

Mama G's Eatery will be serving organic seasonal dishes throughout the day, alongside a licensed bar featuring local beverages.

Salon Sundays aren't just about the performances — they're about what happens between them. The conversations under the trees. Children making unexpected friends. Discovering a musician you've never heard before. Lingering over food grown nearby. Sitting quietly with a goat. Wandering into the yurt. Leaving feeling just a little more connected than when you arrived.

All ages and all walks of life are welcome.
