To give our staff a much needed long weekend, we will be closed tomorrow and Monday for Labour Day Weekend.

We have a restock on Chef Paresh's frozen meals. We currently have Lobster Mac N' Cheese and Pepperoni Pizza Penne in the freezer. These are large trays that feed 6-8 people. They heat easily in the oven. And they are delicious 😋

Back-to-school prep is easier when the products you use every week are already in the house, especially with the long weekend ahead. 🎒

GLRC will be closed Sunday and Monday of Labour Day weekend, so now is the time to get those refills done.

You can buy a little or a lot, depending on what your household actually needs.

One GLRC trip now can mean fewer emergency grocery runs, fewer empty containers, and a much smoother start to the school routine. Plus a little extra breathing room to enjoy the last weekend of summer! ☀️

What to Make Monday is going back to school with a meal that makes excellent use of whatever is already in your fridge!

Start with rice, add cooked protein and greens, then top it with feta, pickled onion, or your family’s favourite vegetables.

The real star is the tahini dressing, made with tahini, garlic, lemon juice, oil, maple syrup, toasted sesame oil, sea salt, smoked paprika, and water.

Prepare the ingredients ahead of time for quick dinners, work lunches, or build-your-own bowls that let everyone choose what goes into theirs.

We’re pretty lucky to have Lake Huron right in our backyard, whether you’re heading to Canatara, Bright’s Grove, or finding your own favourite stretch of shoreline.

The pile of tiny straws, wrappers, and empty boxes at the end of the week? Not so much.

This Simple Swap Sunday, consider replacing some of those single-use juice boxes with an EcoVessel reusable bottle.

Fill it at home, send it to school, wash it, and use it again the next day. You can choose exactly what goes inside and skip the daily packaging.

It doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing swap. Replacing even a few juice boxes each week is a simple place to start.

The first weeks of school can make evenings feel very full, very quickly.

Between activities, homework, lunches, paperwork, and getting everyone back into a routine, dinner can easily become one more thing you forgot to plan.

Keep a few of GLRC’s soups in a jar in the pantry for those nights when you need a simple dinner without starting from scratch. Add the ingredients, let everything cook, and serve with bread, biscuits, or whatever else you have on hand.
