Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
I'll never forget where I was or what I was doing that day. I was 8 months pregnant, running my licensed home daycare, trying to covertly watch the news, not let the children see, and not let my emotions show, while waiting for my support person from Social Services to arrive and do my annual review. To say it was a difficult day is an understatement, and the effects of that day are felt ever since. We lost so many people, but it also shifted our world view and changed how we interacted in the world.
Less than 20 years later Covid hit. Again, we lost so very many people, some from the virus, but so many from what was touted as the salvation from the virus. This too changed our world view.
For me, both events have great similarities. while 9/11 was an act of terror, you can argue that the media control around covid was also an act or terror, by people we were supposed to be able to trust.
That is what stays with me after all these years. That is what I will remember. That is what I see in my practice day in and day out. Trust was broken, deliberately, methodically, and without mercy. Family, friends and workplace were torn apart. But this time instead of a memorial, the victims are ignored, gaslit and labelled as crazy, hypochondriacs and conspiracy theorists.
Right now the Allison Inquiry is going on, giving people who were injured and coerced a chance to speak up, as they have been ignored, by the public, the medical system and our government. The media is not covering it. They still don't want to give these people a voice. It doesn't fit the popular narrative.
Thankfully I've never cared about what was popular. I care about the truth.
