We wrapped up another amazing week at the RhizoKids Conference! We so appreciate this time to talk to the Rhizo families and seeing the RhizoWarriors. Thanks for having us again!

We have completed another visit to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, DE to monitor the RCDP Natural History Study records. A huge thank you to all the RCDP families who continue to come for their study visits! This program would not be possible without all your help!

MLD is proud to support RCDP awareness day. Today is a day dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of Rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata or RCDP. It is a rare genetic disease that prevents the body from making a group of lipids called plasmalogens. This deficiency results in a wide range of severe physical and cognitive symptoms.

The team at MLD shows up to work everyday solely focused on developing a therapy for RCDP. It’s been a long journey, but we are getting closer and closer to finally getting an FDA-approved clinical trial going where a plasmalogen treatment will be tested in RCDP patients.

"Rhizokids" or "Rhizowarriors", as children with RCDP are often referred to, truly are warriors demonstrating unimaginable strength everyday of their lives. MLD recognizes the unbelievable dedication of RCDP caregivers who provide around-the-clock medical care, compassion, and love to these special kids. These caregivers are truly warriors in their own sense.
