One of the less glamorous parts of running a small business is managing inventory, tracking orders, balancing accounts, maintaining retailer relationships, and making sure everything is stocked and running smoothly behind the scenes.

As many of you know, last fall, I shifted into full-time work alongside Zen Gems (and teaching yoga 😅). While I still love creating jewelry and sharing it with you, I’ve had to become a little more intentional about where my time and energy go. Sometimes that means simplifying and letting go of things that no longer feel worth the effort they require.

The good news is you can still find Zen Gems at these wonderful local retailers if you love shopping in person! And SaskMade Marketplace will be getting a big restock very soon. ✨

Of course, you can always shop directly through my website, where you’ll find the biggest selection and all of my newest creations.

Thank you for continuing to support this little business through all of its seasons. It means more than you know. 💛

There’s a lot of jewelry out there these days — low quality pieces, unknown materials, overpriced trends… and honestly, I’ve always wanted my pieces to feel different than that.

I’ve always believed that when you look good, you feel good. Sometimes that’s just a couple gold accessories that make a casual outfit feel more put together. Sometimes it’s jewelry you can wear to the gym, hot yoga, work, or everyday life without stressing about sweat, showers, fading, or tarnishing.

I really believe style should be affordable, easy to wear, and made to last. That’s why I use stainless steel metals and natural gemstones in my pieces. I love knowing they can actually keep up with real life while still feeling beautiful and intentional.

Gemstones have also been part of this business from the very beginning, and I still love the idea of wearing a little piece of natural beauty every day.

Business has changed a lot over the years — fewer retailers, oversaturated markets, and less time now that I’m back in the full-time workforce — but I still genuinely love being part of Saskatoon’s small business community and having this creative outlet. Supporting local really does matter, and every order means so much to me. 🤍

I’m also shifting some styles and clearing out some inventory, so enjoy 40% OFF select pieces with code LOCALLOVE ✨

Earrings are having a moment and I’m here for it.

Stainless steel as always - so you know they won’t fade or tarnish or irritate your ears! A fun chunkier hoop with contrasting gems to make a statement. Bonus: these beauties are a 4-in-1 design — wear the hoops solo, where either of the gem dangles on their own, or together!

Which are you more drawn to? The playful but grounding onyx & dalmatian jasper combo? Or airy & beachy quartz & amazonite?

Now in the shop.

Lately I’ve been noticing a bit of a shift in myself.

Going back to full-time work has brought me back into a more “professional” side of my life that had been quieter for a while. It feels good in a different way — structure, purpose, using a different part of my brain again.

At the same time, I’m still running a small business in a world that feels pretty oversaturated and very online. There’s this pressure to constantly post, share, promote, explain… all the time.

And honestly, I find myself pulling back from that a little.

Between work, running a business, and raising two kids who seem to be growing at lightning speed, I’m becoming more protective of my time and energy.

In yoga there’s the idea of pratyahara — turning inward and stepping away from some of the external noise. That concept has been landing for me lately.

Not everything needs to be shared.
Not every effort needs an audience.

Some things can just be lived. Built slowly. Quietly.

The internet gets pieces of life, sure. But the best conversations, the real wins, the messy middle parts… those are usually saved for the people sitting right in front of me.

Some days these are quick, nourishing stretches.
Other days they turn into juicy yin holds.

These are my favorite poses to teach, the ones I found myself returning to again and again in 2025.
I’m carrying them forward into 2026 because they’re just that good.

Save this for your next home practice, or try one you love for a few breaths… or a few minutes.

1️⃣ Child’s Pose – Keep knees together so you can focus on finding that 360’ breath. Relax the shoulders as your arms sweep back. Grounding through your third eye.

2️⃣ ½ Child’s Pose – Gentle inner-thigh opening, slow and supported.

3️⃣ Broken Branches – Space for the shoulder blades and upper back.

4️⃣ ½ Butterfly + Bind – Breathing into the ribs and side body.

5️⃣ ½ Shoelace – Exhale into the back body, posterior chain lengthening. Block under (either) knee if you need.

6️⃣ Deer Pose – Allowing rotation without force, curious, patient hips.

7️⃣ Supported Fish – Mid instead of upper back block support for gentle extension and heart opening. Butterfly legs optional.

Not chasing new shapes — just returning to the ones that meet me where I am.

✨ What’s your favorite pose to practice?

This year stretched me.
Anxiety at its peak. Health scares that slowed everything down.
I had to relearn how to breathe — not perfectly, just enough to get through the day.

There was a lot of waiting.
Waiting for my body to settle.
For patience with healing.
For clarity while parenting through changing seasons.
For confidence as I stepped back into full-time work and used my brain in ways I hadn’t in a long time.

So much shifted. Roles. Energy. Capacity.

Strength looked different this year.
It looked like adjusting my training.
Easing off when I needed to.
Letting myself rebuild slowly — and trusting that the power would come back.

I’m proud of myself for finding work that challenges me.
Grateful for my family as we adapt together.
Thankful for steady income and the quiet exhale that comes with it.

And always grateful for my clients and students — for staying, supporting, and growing with me.

I’m moving forward open.
To changes in business.
To new challenges.
To growth that feels sustainable.
To more ease.
