❤️ Red shirts. Great energy. One important message. 👟

Today, we walked around the block in recognition of Red Shirt Day and National AccessAbility Week, standing together in support of accessibility, inclusion, and a barrier-free community for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, wore red, and brought such positive energy to the walk. A special shoutout to Algoma Family Services for walking with us! 🔥

Sault Ste. Marie YMCA, join us next year and let’s make this walk even bigger. ♿✨

Meet Shona, a Hospital Billing Clerk at Group Health Centre 👋🧾

Shona has been a valued member of the GHC team for 16 years, working closely with physicians to support hospital billing processes. Her role includes entering and reviewing billing information, onboarding and training new physicians on Ministry of Health (MOH) billing procedures, and helping resolve billing discrepancies and clarify medical codes.

What Shona enjoys most about her work is the supportive and collaborative environment within the Billing Department. The team’s work goes far beyond billing and data entry; they play an important role in supporting patients, physicians, and GHC with the financial side of health care, demonstrating compassion, teamwork, and care.

🌟 Fun fact: Shona loves celebrating everything and everyone! She’s especially excited to celebrate her well-earned retirement this summer 🎉🏖️

Today, we raised the Pride flag at Group Health Centre—a moment to recognize and reflect.

Pride Month honours the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, their contributions, and the ongoing work toward equity and inclusion. As CEO, Lil Silvano shared, this is about continuing to listen, learn, and ensure people feel safe, welcomed, and supported.

At GHC, we are guided by compassion, kindness, respect, and accountability in how we care for our patients, our teams, and our community.

We are proud to stand in solidarity—today and every day.

Happy Pride 🏳️‍🌈
