People often ask me how I started this business, and honestly, it was a little bit accidental… but also very intentional.
This first photo was taken just a few days ago, and it takes me right back to where it all started, on a paddleboard, just out front of the Waterfront Adventure Centre.
A few years after trying paddleboarding for the first time, I was taking a paddleboarding course through the Adventure Recreation program at Sault College. A classmate who knew I practiced yoga dared me to try a headstand on my board…
Something about combining yoga, balance and the water just clicked.
Of course, I went home and immediately searched YouTube for headstands on a paddleboard so I could get better 😂 And that’s when I discovered this whole world of SUP yoga and combining yoga with water.
Soon after, I completed my yoga teacher training, my Paddle Canada SUP Instructor certification, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, and just kept learning and growing from there.
I always knew I wanted to run my own business, but I never planned for it to happen while I was in school and working other jobs. One thing led to another, I saw a gap in the community, and I decided to take a chance.
And now we’re about to wrap up our fourth season🥹
The second photo is a little collage of headstands from that very first one up until this year. What’s extra cool is that I’ve gotten to do them all over the world, including the last photo, taken in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🌎
It’s pretty surreal to look back and realize how far one little headstand led me.
I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported this journey. 💛
I’ll be spending this winter in Southern Ontario to be closer to family, but I’ll be back next spring for Season 5! 🌊
If there’s something you’ve been dreaming about doing, take the chance. You never know where one little moment might lead.
