Fishing Meets the Mountains

Had the chance to put together this custom fishing piece for a client! He wanted a lure built into a northern landscape, complete with mountains, pines and a fisherman working the shoreline.

I really like tattoos like this where we can take something meaningful to the person and turn it into a piece that's completely their own. The darker tree line gives the lure its shape, while the mountains and finer details keep everything readable without overpowering it.

Fresh ink, so there’s a little angry swelling and redness in the photo, but I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one settles in once it's fully healed.

Thanks for trusting Lemafk Ink with this one!

Have an idea you've been sitting on? Fishing, hunting, outdoors, wildlife, dark work, cover-ups or something completely different — shoot me a message and we can turn it into something custom.

COVER-UP – First Session - This one has a pretty cool story behind it.

The original bear was done years ago to symbolize a chapter of his life that has since ended. But there was one important reason he didn't want to simply cover it with something completely different: His Indigenous name is Big Red Standing Bear.

So the bear still belongs, it just needed to become his bear again.

The goal was to completely transform the original tattoo while keeping the bear and giving it a new identity that represents who he is today.

Cover-ups like this take some strategy. Going ridiculously dark over everything isn't always the answer. Instead, I used layers of fur, texture, shadows and movement to break up and camouflage the old lines underneath.

One of my favorite photos is the mid-process shot. I tattooed most of the body first, then completely removed the stencil around the head. You can actually see the old bear's face underneath the new bear before I reapplied the new face stencil.

I did that intentionally because the face is one area I wasn't willing to wing. With an animal tattoo, you have freedom with the body; fur can move, overlap and change direction, which is perfect for a cover-up. But the eyes, muzzle, proportions and mouth have to be right or the whole animal looks off.

So we cleaned it up, lined everything back up and gave Big Red Standing Bear a completely new face.

This is only session one. Now we'll let everything heal before going back through any areas where the old tattoo still wants to show, deepening the contrast, refining the details and adding some reddish-brown colour to the bear.

There's still work to do, but I'm really happy with where we got in the first sitting.

This wasn't about getting rid of an old bear. It was about taking the bear back. 🐻

🖤 ANOTHER PERFECT PUBLIC HEALTH INSPECTION! 🖤

Happy to share that Lemafk Ink has passed another Algoma Public Health inspection with a hazard score of 0 and NO infractions noted! 🤘

Tattooing is about a lot more than creating good artwork. When someone sits in my chair, they're trusting me with their health and safety too and that's something I take extremely seriously.

Proper sterilization, single-use supplies, cross-contamination prevention, cleaning and disinfecting, and maintaining a sanitary workspace aren't optional parts of tattooing. They're part of doing the job properly.

I also encourage anyone thinking about getting tattooed, pierced, or receiving any other personal service to check the public health inspection history of the shop you're considering. Don't be afraid to ask questions about sanitation practices either. You deserve to know that the place you're trusting with your body is following proper health and safety standards.

Thank you to everyone who continues to trust me with your tattoos. I take that trust seriously, both in the work I put on your skin and in keeping the environment it's done in clean and safe. 🖤

Got to bring this one to life yesterday. 🖤

This piece was about more than just creating something beautiful. The bird, the flowers, and the movement of the design all came together around the idea of growth, healing, and continuing to move forward.

Seeing my client share what this tattoo represents to her afterward made it that much more meaningful:

Still here. Still growing. Still learning. Still becoming.

This is one of the things I love most about tattooing. Sometimes it’s artwork. Sometimes it marks a memory, a chapter, a person, or a part of yourself and sometimes it’s a reminder of how far you’ve come.

Thank you for trusting me with this one! It was an absolute pleasure putting it together for you.

🦈 Project - 1 of 3

Every tattoo has a story.

This is the first piece in a three-shark project we're creating together.

My client chose sharks because they need to keep moving to survive. For her, that became a powerful reminder. If she stops moving forward, if she stops keeping herself busy and focused, her thoughts can become overwhelming, like she's drowning.

Sometimes a tattoo isn't just artwork. Sometimes it's a reminder of your strength, your resilience, or what keeps you going.

It's always an honor when someone trusts me with something that personal.

I can't wait to continue this project and bring the next two sharks to life.

Thanks for trusting me with your story.

Can't wait to see it healed and not so angry!

Another meaningful piece done this week!

My client wanted something personal and rooted in home, so we created this custom piece featuring her kids’ names with some Northern Ontario tree inspiration worked into the design. Clean, natural, and packed with meaning.

I really enjoy doing tattoos like this, especially representing family, connection, and where you come from.

If you’ve got an idea you’ve been sitting on, send me a message and let’s create something custom together.

One of those pieces that’s equal parts funny and meaningful 🥑

This angry little avocado was done as a memorial, a reminder of someone who had a strong personality and a great sense of humor. Not every tribute has to be heavy. Sometimes the best way to remember someone is with something that actually feels like them.

Clean lines, bold expression, and a design that’ll always get a reaction.

If you’ve got an idea to honour someone in your own way, I’m here for it.

DM to book or talk through your concept.

Stray Kids logo piece done for a dedicated fan, solid black, crisp lines, and built to hold up over time. Sometimes simple hits the hardest, especially when it represents something you’re genuinely connected to.

If you’ve got a band, brand, or symbol that means something to you, I’ll make sure it’s done right.

DM to book or lock in your next piece.

Little cover-up project I wrapped up!

Took an old, faded piece and gave it a whole new life with a bold black cat silhouette, soft rose work, and a pop of color to bring it all together. Cover-ups don’t have to look heavy or obvious, the goal is always clean, readable, and something you actually want to show off.

If you’ve got an old tattoo you’re tired of looking at, I can work with you to redesign it into something way better.

DM to book or chat ideas.
