From the hair, Viboothi (திருநீறு) , eyes, nose, mustache, facial structure, even the wrinkles, every detail was carefully designed to feel mature, powerful, and deeply rooted in Tamil identity.

As the piece came together, the presence naturally carried the energy of Karuppasamy(கறுப்பு சாமி) the black god.

A strong, Protective, Fearless, culturally rooted Tamil pride in its raw form.

Read the story here: In memory of his children and his wife, taken far too soon in a tragic accident in Markham.

Years later, the grief is still heavy but so is his strength.
Instead of retreating into silence, he chose to stand up.
He now advocates for safer roads so no other family has to live through this kind of loss.

This tattoo represents remembrance, resilience, and responsibility.

A young Canadian chose us to design his inner arm with Karthigai Po /Gloriosa Lily (கார்த்திகை பூ), honoring the Maaveerar who sacrificed their lives for the rights, dignity, and future of the Tamil community.

As a major element, we incorporated the Vel (வேல்), representing God Murugan as a symbol of guidance, strength, and roots.

To make the tattoo deeply personal, we added his parents’ names in their own handwriting, carefully placed within a custom banner. Preserving their real handwriting turns the piece into more than a tattoo.

In the end, we added Anbe Shivam/ Love is God(அன்பே சிவம்), completing the tattoo with a message that stays true to his values and beliefs.

The result left him more than happy. He was truly overwhelmed by the outcome.

This is what we do at Ink with Joy Tattoo Studio in Scarborough. We turn stories culture and emotions into tattoos that last a lifetime.
