Many years ago when I was channeling my guides, the Z's, they gave an affirmation: "I call back my power, I call back every piece of myself I have ever given away."
We are so literal with words as human beings, and we all hear things slightly differently. So I always knew, from the minute they gave that affirmation, that some people would struggle or perhaps even object to some of the words.
What's really important for our more literal mind to understand is that when we affirm that we are calling back every piece of ourselves that we have ever given away, we are not trying to take back any of the gifts we gave to others when we do this, and energetically, we don't remove from them anything that we have given to them that they have received. That's simply not possible. But what we are actually doing is changing our minds about the way we give.
So, we are not taking back any of the gifts we gave to others when we focus on calling back our power. Instead, we are simply realigning our own ability to generate energy rather than leaving our own center, leaving the center of our own energy, and giving ourselves or our energy away as an act of sacrifice.
