We're looking for someone who can lend us fertile chicken eggs and the necessary hatching equipment for a short-term project at Silverstone Care Centre.

At Silverstone Care Centre, Recreation is about so much more than keeping busy — it’s about creating joy, purpose, connection, and meaningful moments in everyday life. 💙

Our Recreation Team supports residents through person-centred recreation that focuses on emotional, physical, social, cognitive, and spiritual well-being. Whether it’s music, gardening, games, outings, one-to-one visits, or simply sharing a conversation, recreation helps residents stay engaged and connected.

💙💛 Building Connections Across Generations at Silverstone Care Centre 💛💙

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming students from West Sechelt Elementary School to Silverstone Care Centre for a wonderful morning of intergenerational connection and fun!

Residents and students spent time together chatting, solving puzzles, sharing stories, and getting to know one another. The smiles, laughter, and conversations throughout our home were a beautiful reminder of the positive impact these visits have on everyone involved.

Intergenerational programs offer many benefits for both seniors and children. Residents enjoy increased social connection, meaningful engagement, cognitive stimulation, and opportunities to share their life experiences. For students, these visits help build empathy, respect, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of older adults and aging.

At Silverstone, we believe that creating opportunities for different generations to connect helps strengthen our community and supports our vision of Creating Joy in Life and Aging.

A heartfelt thank you to the students, teachers, and volunteers from West Sechelt Elementary School for spending part of your day with us. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

🎂🎉 May Birthday Celebrations at Silverstone Care Centre! 🎉🎂

Today we celebrated our May Birthday Party with residents, families, volunteers, and team members coming together to recognize the special people celebrating another year around the sun!

At Silverstone, we host two birthday parties each month to ensure residents from all neighborhoods have the opportunity to celebrate, connect, and enjoy time with friends and family. These celebrations are about much more than cake—they help foster a sense of belonging, create meaningful social connections, spark happy memories, and support overall emotional well-being and quality of life.

A heartfelt thank you to the Sunshine Coast Health Care Auxiliary for their ongoing partnership and volunteer support. Your generosity, kindness, and commitment help make events like these possible and bring so much joy to our residents. We are grateful for all that you do for our home.
