People sometimes ask me why we do this work. The honest answer is that one day, sooner than we think, this will be me. I want to know that when I'm older, there will be someone kind and dependable to get me to my appointments and home again safely. Getting older shouldn't mean getting left behind. Small things, looked after early.

John was out with the bus, taking care of the little things before they become big ones. We feel the same way about the people we drive.

A check-up, a dentist visit, an x-ray, a follow-up for something that just won't go away. It may not be an emergency, but it still matters. When getting there is the hard part, that's where we come in.

This time of year we're thinking about the people we get to ride with: folks heading to appointments, coming home from the hospital, or settling into a new care home. Thank you for trusting us with the trip, and thank you to the families and care homes who call us.

We provide non-urgent medical transport, bed to bed, across Winnipeg, Selkirk, and Manitoba. We're not an ambulance and we don't provide medical care. We just give you a safe, comfortable ride, with our own high-backed reclining wheelchairs.

Staying home is easy. But the stories people tell for years come from the other road: the drive out, the fresh air, the laughs along the way.

Assisted Excursions plans weekday outings for groups of 8 to 16 people: care homes, seniors' groups, day programs, church groups, or a circle of friends. We handle the transport and lend a hand getting around, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm. Operated by Community Paramedics Service in Manitoba.

Some mornings look like this — taking the name off the van and getting it ready for its next chapter.

Community Paramedics Service reuses donated mobility equipment, and when a medical transport van has served its time with us, we sell it fully set up so someone can manage their own non-urgent medical transport. This is the fourth. Buyers save thousands of dollars doing it.

We still provide non-urgent medical transport ourselves — bed-to-bed, not an ambulance — and we do not provide medical care. Winnipeg, Selkirk, and across Manitoba.
