We offer an inclusive community space for individuals to engage in meaningful discussions and activities. Meetings are open to individuals who self-identify as survivors or wish to support survivors of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and any other forms of sexualized violence and/or gender-based violence. For the winter 2021 semester, group sessions will be held online on Microsoft Teams every two w
eeks. Meetings will be on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm EST. The group is open, which means that new participants will be welcome at any point in the semester. On occasion, special guests will attend and you will be notified ahead of time at the previous sessions on our page and through the Dish. Key Principles:
• You are the expert of your experience.
• Your feelings are valid and normal.
• You are in NO way responsible for the violence suffered
• You are the writer of your own story.
• You are worthy of healthy love.
• You have the right to autonomy, respect, and freedom. Confidentiality & limitations of virtual meetings:
You are encouraged to join the online meetings at least five (5) minutes before the beginning of the sessions and ensure that your technology is working properly. Much like for in-person meetings, participants who are more than five (5) minutes late to an online meeting will not be allowed to join the session
You must sign in to the online meetings from a private location and ensure that no one will hear you or interrupt you during the sessions. You are responsible for ensuring your own confidentiality. Group facilitators agree to follow the same rules
Please use your video camera so that other group members can see you and use a headset if possible. Make sure to MUTE your microphone when another group member (or a facilitator) is speaking
Please note that it is not permitted to record SASH meetings or take screenshots/pictures of your computer screen during a session
Keep in mind that technology is not failproof. You might experience issues with your sound/image or could get disconnected from a meeting due to a poor WiFi connection. If you get disconnected from a meeting, you are allowed to attempt to reconnect
If you become triggered during a meeting and wish to leave the session, you agree to notify one of the group facilitators before disconnecting
Even though we do our best to ensure that SASH meetings remain private and confidential, there are a lot of external factors that cannot be controlled with virtual meetings. As a result, group participants must understand that confidentiality breaches are possible
