Deanna has recently completed her psychotherapy practicum and we are excited to share that she is staying on our team!

Deanna brings a wealth of holistic knowledge into her work with clients, and like all of our therapists at *xualwellness , she loves working with what others view as “taboo”.

Dea is currently accepting new clients for in-person (Simcoe) and virtual support. If you would like to learn more or want to schedule a free consultation call, email her at deanna@embodieds*xualwellness.com or book online through Jane!

✨ MEET PRIYA! ✨

“My work as a therapist meets at the intersections of seeking to understand my clients lived life experience, their ancestral history, and socio-economic and political community they are contained in. I bring both my clinical expertise and personal experiences into my work with clients. I grew up a deeply sensitive and intuitive child, who felt quite alone in this world. I struggled navigating my early life experiences, intergenerational trauma, and cultural expectations.

I know what it feels like to live disconnected from my body. I know what it is like to feel caught between two worlds and navigate culture and familial expectations. I know what it is like to seek connection and improve the quality of my relationships. I not only understand the clinical aspects of trauma recovery but also embody it.

My own experiences in healing have left me feeling deeply passionate about supporting people who connect deeply within themselves and alchemize their own suffering into something more. Into something delicious, sensual, joyful, and grounded.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, a Certified EMDR Therapist, M**A Provisional Associate, trained in Internal Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy and Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy. I am currently completing the advanced educational requirements to become certified as a s*x therapist. The clinical modalities I integrate into the therapeutic container are the very ones in which have supported me live a more embodied and joyfilled life.

Some things you may want to know about me: I am a daughter, niece, Massi/Aunty, partner, friend, artist, and student. I am bold, direct, fallible, intuitive, caring, and clumsy. I have a loud laugh and even louder personality. I am a deep thinker, outgoing introvert, and avid reader. I am someone who invites conversations about things we are often taught to keep quiet: cults, death, spirituality, s*xuality, and psychedelics with friends and strangers (honestly anyone who will entertain me). I believe memes normalizing mental health are a true art form, and that’s often why people choose to work with me.”

In times of uncertainty, many of us instinctively brace ourselves. We tighten, prepare, and try to endure. Our nervous systems are constantly responding to the environments and systems around us. But pleasure is another path that exists too.

Pleasure is a powerful way our nervous systems remember safety, connection, and aliveness. When the world feels unpredictable, moments of pleasure can anchor us back into our bodies and remind us that joy, softness, and intimacy still exist.

Pleasure might look like feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, moving your body in a way that feels good, savouring a delicious meal, or experiencing intimacy and connection. These moments aren’t an escape from reality- they are a way of resourcing ourselves so we can keep showing up within it.

Choosing pleasure in difficult times is a form of active resistance to a world that often tells us we must live in constant stress and depletion.

Your body deserves moments of goodness, even now. Arguably especially now.

Want to learn how you can surrender into pleasure? Reach out and connect with one of our s*x therapists.

It is such an honour to be presenting this year alongside several other incredible women at the Pleasure Principle conference.

I attended last year as a participant, and it was hands down the most meaningful conference I have ever attended.

This year’s theme is “Advancing Women's S*xual Health Together: Cancer Survivors & S*xual Health Focus”.

Would love to see you there! 🩷

Embodied S*xual Wellness and Psychotherapy is officially 3! 🥹🩷🎉

From what started as just me on my own has grown into a country-wide group practice with 5 incredible therapists on my team (and another starting later this month!)

Opening a queer-affirming and s*x-positive s*x therapy practice in a rural community was a bit of a risk, and I had many people question my decision. I knew we needed a space where s*xual wellness (and honestly all things “taboo”) could be explored in a safe and empowering way- so I decided to be the one to create that space.

The last three years have been incredible, and I am so grateful for everyone who has supported me on this journey! 🩷

Okay, while this is a silly little video… the message behind it is pretty important.

I can’t even begin to describe how often we get messages from individuals who either a) don’t understand the difference between seeking s*x therapy support vs. s*x work services, or b) simply do not care about the difference.

While many people who reach out are respectful- and we’re able to gently clarify what we do and don’t offer, we also receive blatantly inappropriate comments, explicit requests, unsolicited photos, and even videos.

We’ve had to disable the messenger function attached to our page and carefully screen our emails as a result.

S*x therapy and s*x work often get lumped together- but they are not the same thing.

S*x therapy is a psychotherapy service provided by regulated mental health professionals. Sessions are talk-based, grounded in ethics and professional boundaries- not performing s*xual acts.

S*x work is valuable labor that involves providing erotic or s*xual services.

Both can coexist. Both challenge shame. Both can help individuals learn more about themselves. Both are valid in different ways.

Most importantly, neither s*x therapists nor s*x workers should ever be subjected to s*xual harassment, coercion, or assault- full stop.
