Midwife Carly’s last two weeks with us! It’s hard to say goodbye to someone that has been such a valued part of the Midwives of East Erie team.

Midwife Carly has been such a meaningful part of our community. We are truly sad to see you go, but grateful for the time we’ve had with you.

You have touched many families in Haldimand-Norfolk community and will not be forgotten.

Unfortunately, missing Jody, Chantal, & Mahnaz / Elisha were at a birth, babies come when they come 😁👶❤️

The flowers never question when it’s time to bloom, and the fields never doubt how to grow. In the same way, our babies know exactly when—and how—to arrive.

As dawn gently broke and the first rays of sunlight touched the earth, a beautiful baby was born from water into water, reminding us that birth unfolds in its own perfect rhythm.

After the birth, we gathered at our second attendant Elisha Lunshof home to share breakfast in community. Around the table, we celebrated new life, reflected on the beauty of the morning, and gave thanks for the privilege of witnessing such a sacred beginning.

A fantastic first birth with our new Midwife Narece Nar BT ❤️

We are beyond excited to share that Narece will be joining our team here at Midwives of East Erie! Give her a big Haldimand-Norfolk welcome! We have bragging so much about you all 😉 ❤️

“My name is Narece Bekker-Thompson. I am a mother of three, a wife, and a registered midwife, educated at Toronto Metropolitan University. I feel incredibly fortunate to begin my career with the wonderful midwives at Midwives of East Erie. My passion for pregnancy and babies and the post-partum period has been a constant throughout my life. After years of working in many different fields, including time as a doula, I decided it was time to pursue a career in midwifery—a profession that is much more than a job. It is a calling and the culmination of the skills, experiences, and compassion I have gathered throughout my life. Over the past few years of training, my passion for all things baby has evolved into a passion for serving the women and people who care for these tiny humans. For me, being a midwife is about much more than "catching babies." It's about holding space for each pregnant person, providing them with the knowledge they need to be fully present and empowered throughout their unique journey, and supporting them as they find their voice and make informed decisions about their care. When I'm not catching babies or running clinic, you'll often find me bribing my family to join me on hikes, taking walks along the beach, or attempting to master the art of crocheting. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join this team, and I consider it a tremendous honour to care for families during such an important time in their lives. It is a privilege to be part of your journey and your birth team. I can't wait to get to know you all!”
