What does healthy aging look like? It may be more varied than we sometimes assume.

A Yale study following more than 11,000 adults aged 65 and older found that 45% improved in cognitive function, physical function or both over time. The researchers also found an association between more positive beliefs about aging and a greater likelihood of improvement.

The study challenges the idea that physical and cognitive decline are simply inevitable parts of getting older.
