Where do you go when you need to reset?

This is one of my places.

Our backyard is not elaborate, but it gives me somewhere to step outside, slow down and reconnect with what is around me.

That matters because resilience is not built only through major changes. It is also supported by the small practices and intentional spaces that help us pause, recover and return with greater focus.

The same principle can apply at work.

A reset space will not eliminate excessive workload or solve every organizational challenge. But giving people practical ways to pause and recover can be one valuable part of a healthier workplace culture.

At RTJ Wellness, we help organizations move beyond simply talking about wellness. Our interactive workshops give people realistic resilience practices they can use during the workday and beyond.

Some Father’s Day gifts give you much more than you expected.

My sons gave me a guided fly-fishing trip, and on Thursday, July 23, my oldest son, Nolan, joined me for an unforgettable day on the Oldman River in the Crowsnest Pass.

Together, we caught nine fish, and we each had the thrill of catching a bull trout.

But the number of fish wasn’t what made the day so meaningful.

It was the shared experience. Every time one of us caught a fish, the other seemed just as excited. That kind of genuine happiness for someone else is one of the best parts of spending time with the people who matter most.

Our guide was Devin Jerome, a former student of mine and now the owner and guide behind . Devin is a quality man who is completely committed to helping people enjoy their time on the water. He generously shared his knowledge, offered encouragement throughout the day, and made the entire experience memorable.

This day was also a wonderful reminder that wellness is interconnected.

It included movement and fresh air.
Emotional restoration.
Connection between father and son.
Learning something new.
Time immersed in nature.
Gratitude, perspective, and purpose.

One activity doesn’t have to touch every dimension of wellness to be valuable. Sometimes one meaningful experience can strengthen several dimensions at once.

Wellness doesn’t always look like a workout or another item on your to-do list.

Sometimes, it looks like standing in a river and celebrating when someone you love catches a fish.

At RTJ Wellness, this is the kind of wellness we bring into our presentations and workshops: practical, interconnected, and grounded in real life.
