everything that makes me too much:

divorced ✓
mom of twins ✓
adhd diagnosis that showed up three decades late ✓

they called it dramatic. scattered. too sensitive. a lot
turns out i’m just me

and that little girl inside? she wouldn’t believe we made it here

save this if you needed it today. follow if you’re late-diagnosed and building it anyway. 🌺

boundaries who?

almost every photo taken of me on my girls weekend looks like this

it can be exhausting. it has ruined a lot of relationships

meals go cold. moments get missed. I come across as rude or uninterested… self absorbed even

I love what I do, I would never change it. but somedays it’s exhausting constantly looking like I’m ending a bad situationship

If you get it, you get it 😅

unpopular opinion as a therapist: i’m not going to sugarcoat your toxic relationship.

yes, i’m trained to guide you so you find the insight yourself. and i’ll do that.

but i’m also going to name the patterns i see — very directly, always compassionately.

because pretending not to notice what’s hurting you isn’t kindness. it’s just easier and more comfortable.

i can lead you to water. i can’t make you drink.

Women aren’t diagnosed late. They’ve been misread.

I’ve sat across from women who spent ten years on medication for something that they didn’t have. Women who got told it was anxiety. Perfectionism. Perimenopause. Burnout. “A lot going on.”

The criteria were built on boys. Loud boys. Eight-year-old boys. The version of ADHD that bothers a classroom.

She doesn’t bother anyone. That’s the problem.
Late diagnosis isn’t trendy. It’s a name finally meeting the woman who’s been carrying it.

Let me ask you - how old were you when something finally clicked? And if you’re still waiting, what’s the label they’ve handed you instead?

every afternoon, like clockwork, the dread would roll in.

heart racing. chest tight. that hum of “something is wrong” with nothing actually wrong. i was so sure it was anxiety. i’m a clinician, i know what anxiety feels like.

except it wasn’t.

i called our NP ready to talk about regulation, and she asked one question: was i taking my second dose of adhd medication? i wasn’t. i’d been forgetting for days. and in that gap, my brain did what so many ADHD brains do; it filled the silence with alarm.

this is the part people miss. when ADHD goes untreated, the nervous system doesn’t just get distracted. it gets dysregulated. the racing thoughts, the restlessness, the sense of impending doom. it can mirror anxiety almost perfectly. so many people spend years being treated for the anxiety while the actual driver goes unseen.

i felt better within two days of taking my correct dose. not because the anxiety lifted, but because there wasn’t true anxiety. there was an unmet need wearing an anxiety costume.

so many of you have lived this for decades. misnamed, mistreated, and quietly wondering why nothing worked. you weren’t broken. you were misread.

share this with someone who’s been calling their ADHD an anxiety diagnosis who might need to hear this.. they deserve to finally see it clearly, too.

five labels women collect before anyone says ADHD

save this and check back for the long version. The friend who keeps apologizing for being late should probably see this too.

Oh! And comment WORKBOOK to get my free ADHD workbook ✨

It’s giving sensory overload.

There is something so wrong with what these 3 women told me…

Ever daydream of getting the flu?

If as a woman you feel that you ended to have a physical illness to take rest we need to have a conversation.

It’s almost like we need this excuse so that we don’t have to explain ourselves.

Nobody actually wants to be sick.

If three women told me this in casual conversation, how many actually think it?

I’ve thought it.

It’s not the illness we’re looking for - it’s the permission to take rest.
