So, yesterday I fell- downhill on a sidewalk.
Landed on the heels of my hands, and according to the scrapes on the right elbow and knee, and the nose, also on the right side and face!
Not in too bad shape today.
Here’s what I attribute it to:
I went home, cleaned all the cuts with peroxide, applied Arnica cream and bandaged. Started taking arnica pellets right away.
When I noticed the left sacrum, jaw, lower back and neck were becoming problematic, I called a Bowen colleague in Ontario to do a distance session on me- thanks Francine! - and the stiffness dissipated within an hour. ( I do distance sessions on clients all the time and they can’t believe the relief.)
But there’s more to this.
I carry things all the time and mostly do my own manual labour -according to some, doing things a woman “my age “ shouldn’t. Because of that, it seems my wrist bones can take 160 lbs landing on them with significant impact without breaking.
I stretch, walk, do yoga or fascial manoeuvres from Human Garage most days. That made my connective tissue supple enough to take the impact without any significant damage.
I mostly eat food that makes my body feel good. (Sometimes the cake hole wins!😂🎂 nomnomnom) I know that for me, potatoes cause bad inflammation in my knees and that wheat and dairy really mess with everything. That is another reason why I’m not a total victim today. Very little inflammation. Though I’ve been called “precious “ because I watch what goes in the bod.)
I drink lots of water and very rarely, caffeinated or sugary drinks. That helps with keeping my body hydrated and flexible.
I’m not preaching here, just saying that you can do things for your body that will keep you moving, with less discomfort in your body.
Being a certain age does not dictate everything about your body. What you do to/for can account for a LOT!
Feeling very grateful here. This could have been SOOO much worse.
