Members of our Avalon Employment Inc. Autism-At-Work team are enjoying the conversations happening at the West Coast Business and Investment Summit.

Ensuring that we stay up to date with current industry trends, and connecting with the businesses, organizations, and individuals that are building and strengthening our economy is of incredible importance to our work. We are grateful for opportunities like this one to learn and also share our insights. This economic development does not happen without also focusing on labour market development and that’s what we bring to these conversations.

We look forward to all that the next couple of days brings us.

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month! 💙

Today, Avalon Employment Inc. was proud to join the Honourable Lin Paddock, Minister of Jobs and Growth, and the Honourable Chris Tibbs, Minister of Social Supports and Well-Being and Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, alongside community organizations and partners, for the official signing of the proclamation recognizing Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) in Newfoundland and Labrador.

DEAM is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of persons with disabilities in our workplaces, while continuing the work of removing barriers and creating meaningful, accessible pathways to employment.

We are fortunate to work alongside employers, community organizations, government and advocates across our province who recognize that inclusive employment strengthens our workplaces, our communities and our economy.

Throughout October, we’ll be celebrating that work, sharing resources, and continuing conversations about what it takes to create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.

Thank you to MentorAbility Newfoundland and Labrador for organizing such an important event.

Here’s to a month of awareness, action, collaboration and moving inclusion forward. 💙

We’re kicking off the Economic Developers Association of Newfoundland and Labrador Conference on the Burin Peninsula!

Economic development and labour market development go hand in hand. Strong communities need strong workforces, and that means making sure people have meaningful opportunities to participate, contribute their skills, and build careers right here in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Over the next two days, we’re looking forward to conversations about strengthening our communities, supporting employers, building inclusive hiring practices, and creating workforce solutions that make room for more people.

Because when we build a labour market where more people can participate, we build a stronger economy for everyone.

A little Saturday afternoon at the Agriculture Fair! 🌾🐄🍎

We loved getting out to explore, meet people, learn a little more about the incredible work happening in agriculture across Newfoundland and Labrador, and enjoy everything the fair had to offer.

Community events like this are always a great reminder of just how many people, skills and different kinds of work it takes to keep an industry growing. 🌱

☀️ Saying goodbye to summer the best way we know how: good food, good games and even better company!

Our clients and staff came together for a summer celebration featuring Ziggy Peelgood’s fries and hot dogs, some friendly competition with co****le and washer toss, and lots of time to simply connect and enjoy the sunshine.

It was a great way to celebrate the summer we’ve shared before heading into a busy and exciting fall at Avalon Employment Inc. 🍂
