Saturday’s session was Horse Medicine, followed by an Intuitive Massage.
My client didn’t speak English, and I found myself digging up French I hadn’t spoken in probably 20 years. I was born in Quebec, but grew up speaking English, since my mother only spoke English. In school we learned Parisian French, because my father didn’t want to confuse me by also speaking Québécois French, which is known to be quite different, he didn’t speak to me in French at all! And the truth about any language is, unless you’re immersed in it, staying fluent is a challenge. Thankfully, the horses bridged the gap beautifully.
Honestly, going in, I was nervous about that. How do I hold space for someone when I can’t even find the right words?
Turns out I didn’t need the right words.I stumbled, but together we found a way to communicate what mattered.
The horses didn’t care that we didn’t share a language. What resonated most is that what gets communicated in the herd is felt, not spoken.
When I do intuitive massage and put my hands on a client, I don’t explain what I’m doing. I usually joke that I don’t even know what I do or how I do it!
Truth is, being present and just feeling it is what the experience calls for.
There was a quiet understanding between us that had nothing to do with language. It made the whole session feel deeper than usual, somehow.
I’m grateful for every single session I get to be part of, but this one is staying with me. The horses held both of us, her and me.
Sometimes you don’t need the right words. You just need to feel, and the horses showed that to us both.
Reflecting on it afterward, I was proud of myself for jumping in with enough confidence to make it all feel exactly as it should have.
Merci d’être venue, d’avoir été aussi ouverte et d’avoir vécu cette expérience de médecine par les chevaux et de massage intuitif.
