Some days I miss having a separate clinic. A space that was always quiet. Always perfectly organized. Always clean.
If I’m being honest, I still catch myself wanting and stressing about everything needing to be 1000% spotless, silent, and impeccable. I want every toy put away and everything in its place, until I realize I’m trying to make my home look like children don’t live here, but they do. This is their home too, and that’s something I’m learning to embrace rather than erase.
This season of life is teaching me that the most meaningful things in my life don’t have to be separated. This isn’t just my business. It’s the home where my family is growing. It’s where my children build forts in the waiting area, excitedly show off their Axolotl, scatter toys across the floor, laugh, learn, and grow. It’s also where I have the privilege of caring for the people who trust me with their health.
Not long ago, I would have seen those two worlds as something that needed to stay separate. Now I’m learning they can exist together.
Choosing to work from home wasn’t the easiest decision, and it certainly wasn’t because it creates the perfect business environment. It was a choice I made because right now it’s what serves my family best.
I’m learning that excellence doesn’t require perfection. I can take pride in my work while also giving myself grace when life looks like toys in the waiting area five minutes after I just cleaned it.
Maybe someone else needs that reminder today too.
Your life doesn’t have to look perfect to be beautiful. Sometimes the very things we try to hide are the evidence that we’re living a life we’ve intentionally chosen.
And for me, that’s a trade I’ll make every single time. 🤍
