December has arrived, and the holiday season is here, a time that we’re told we should feel joyful, magical, and bright.
But I know for so many, it can be a really difficult time.
Some are far away from the ones they love.
Some are missing those who are no longer here.
Some feel overwhelmed by the constant expectations, noise, and busyness of the season.
And some feel lonely, despite it all.
I know you're doing your best you can in a world that seems to move so fast, and so, this morning I wanted to share a really lovely ritual that I've been using lately. It feels so grounding and gives me a moment to connect with myself.
It's the emotional wave check-in. When you wake in the morning or move through your day, place your hand on your heart, take a slow breath, and ask:
Where is my wave today?
🌊 High? 🌊 Low? 🌊 Neutral?
Then ask yourself, what do I have the energetic capacity for right now?
Not what’s expected of you, not what the season demands of you, but what your heart or energy can hold right now?
This simple check-in reconnects you with yourself, your body, your truth, before the world pulls you into anything else.
Here are a few practices that I’ve been playing with, and maybe they’ll help you, too, to return to what feels true:
đź’— Step outside for a minute of fresh air.
đź’— Whisper one kind thing to yourself.
đź’— Take three intentional slow breaths before entering any space.
💗 Say “no” when your heart says no.
💗 Say “yes” only if it feels true for you.
Putting your hand on your heart whenever you feel overwhelmed signals safety to your nervous system. I hope this brings you peace and helps you stay connected to your heart.
