🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why do we recommend regular cleanings even if your teeth feel fine?
Many oral health issues, like early gum disease or small cavities, may not cause pain right away. Preventive visits help catch concerns early and keep your smile healthy.

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why do your teeth feel so smooth after a cleaning?
Your hygienist removes hardened tartar and surface stains that brushing can’t remove, leaving the natural tooth surface feeling cleaner and smoother.

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why does your breath smell even after brushing?
Brushing your teeth is important, but bacteria can also build up on your tongue, between your teeth, or around dental work. Dry mouth can contribute to bad breath, as well. Brushing your teeth and tongue, along with flossing will keep your breath smelling fresher!

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why does coffee stain your teeth?
Dark-colored drinks, such as coffee and red w**e, contain pigments that cling to tiny irregularities on your enamel over time. Brushing and flossing, along with regular cleanings, help remove surface stains.

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why does cold water make some teeth hurt?
Tooth sensitivity can happen when the protective enamel wears down or gums recede, exposing the root of the tooth. The good news is there are ways to help reduce sensitivity. Your dental professional can make recommendations based on your concerns to best suit your needs.

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why do your gums bleed when you floss?
Bleeding is often a sign of inflammation caused by plaque around the gums. With gentle, consistent flossing and brushing, healthy gums usually bleed less over time. If bleeding persists, it’s worth having it checked.

🦷 What’s Really Happening?

Why do your teeth feel fuzzy by the end of the day?
The “fuzzy” feeling is plaque. Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms on your teeth throughout the day. Brushing and flossing helps to removes it before it hardens into tartar.
Once the plaque solidifies into tartar, the only way to effectively remove it is to visit your hygienist.
