Our staff can help you with this. We will ensure you have the best treatment plan to be successful and healthier. Having shorter intervals between visits is often important as we know that the harmful bacteria can recolonize about every 90 days.

Cleaning Between Your Teeth Might Do More Than Protect Your Gums.

A 2025 study published in the American Diabetes Association journal Diabetes Spectrum found that adults with type 2 diabetes who cleaned between their teeth at least 3 times per week had better glucose control than those who cleaned less often.

Researchers followed 104 adults with type 2 diabetes and used continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for 2 weeks. More frequent interdental cleaning was associated with lower fasting blood glucose, more time in the target glucose range (TIR), lower glucose management indicator (GMI), and fewer episodes of high blood sugar.

The study also found lower levels of several inflammatory markers among people with better oral hygiene habits. While this study cannot prove cause and effect, the findings add to growing evidence that oral health may play an important role in overall diabetes care.

Have you been in to see one of our hygienists lately? Remember that term biofilm that was revealed with the disclosing solution (the purple stuff)?

That's stages 1 and 2 that they are focused on removing and keeping off your teeth and gums to prevent stage 3.

Keeping the bacteria levels low is what keeps you and your mouth healthy. They will recommend the best interval (how often) you need this done by them for you. Unfortunately not all dental plans give you enough coverage but they can request more on your behalf.

🚫 Pericoronitis: Why Your Wisdom Teeth Might Be Hurting You 🦷

Is your back gum feeling swollen or painful? You might be dealing with Pericoronitis.

This condition occurs when a wisdom tooth (third molar) only partially breaks through the gum. This creates a small "flap" of gum tissue called an operculum, which acts as a perfect hiding spot for food particles and bacteria 🦠. Since it’s hard to clean that area with a regular toothbrush, the tissue becomes inflamed and infected.

🟦 Common Symptoms:

🔹 Red, swollen, or painful gums near the back teeth 🔴

🔹 Difficulty opening your mouth or swallowing 🤐

🔹 Bad taste or unpleasant breath caused by bacteria buildup 🙊

🔹 Pus discharge in the affected area.

👉 What should you do?

Don't wait for the pain to get worse! Treatment usually involves professional cleaning, antibiotics if there’s an infection, or even the removal of the gum flap or the tooth itself.
