Are you or someone you support applying for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)? There are some recent changes to the process you should be aware of 📋

Starting on September 8, 2026, the CRA will no longer be accepting older versions (from before 2023) of the DTC form, also known as form T2201. To make sure you are using the latest version of the application, download a copy from the CRA’s website: https://shorturl.at/KP8n6

Earlier this year, the CRA also announced that applicants won't be able to use the “Submit Documents” section in their CRA account to send DTC applications or related documents, unless the CRA specifically requests additional information.

To apply for the DTC, you can choose one of three options:
• Apply online using the digital DTC application form
• Mail a hard copy of the completed form to one of the tax centers listed on the form
• Apply by phone with a CRA agent: 1-800-959-8281 or using the automated voice service (1-800-463-4421)

If you apply online or by phone, you will receive a reference number for your medical practitioner to use to complete Part B of the form online. If you apply by mail, you will need to ask your medical practitioner to complete a hard copy of Part B and submit Part A and Part B together.
