Today we celebrate the podiatrists who help Canadians stay active, mobile and on their feet.

From identifying foot health concerns early to supporting complex wound care, podiatrists play an important role in protecting skin health, preventing complications and helping people maintain their mobility and independence.

❤️ Thank you to all the podiatrists who make a difference every day through their expertise, care and commitment to healthier feet and limbs.

Video gait analysis allows podiatrists to assess frame by frame and better explain walking mechanics to patients.

Podiatrists are uniquely trained to assess, diagnose, and treat pain affecting the feet and lower limbs.
By evaluating your joints, muscles, tendons, nerves, footwear, and the way you stand and walk, a podiatrist can help identify the underlying source of your discomfort—not just where it hurts.

👣 Why do we use sharp debridement for corns & calluses?

Filing and Dremel-style tools can help smooth thickened skin, but sharp debridement allows a podiatrist to carefully and precisely remove thicker layers of hard, built-up skin — including the concentrated core of many painful corns.

This can provide:
✔️ More precise removal
✔️ Greater reduction of thick, painful skin
✔️ Faster relief from pressure and discomfort
✔️ A smoother result without relying solely on sanding or filing

At Cape Breton Podiatry, we combine professional treatment with an assessment of why the corn or callus keeps developing — helping address the pressure or mechanical cause, not just the hard skin.

Cape Breton Podiatry offers comprehensive podiatry services for foot care in the Cape Breton area, ensuring healthier feet and improved mobility.

💜 Run for Radio Day! 💜

Herbie Sakalauskas is back with another incredible challenge in support of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.

Last year, Herbie ran the 276 km Cabot Trail Relay route over four days, helping raise funds to purchase a LUCAS CPR Device and 12 sleeper chairs for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

This year, he is going even bigger.

Starting October 6, Herbie will run the full 298 km Cabot Trail loop around the clock, with the goal of crossing the finish line on October 8 during Radio Day.

Funds raised will support this year’s Radio Day campaign to purchase two new portable x-ray machines for the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. For critically ill patients, these machines allow essential imaging to be done right at the bedside rather than transporting vulnerable patients through the hospital- making an important difference to patient care and safety.

THANK YOU, Herbie, for helping strengthen health care in Cape Breton – Unama’ki, right here at home. 💜
